Last Tuesday Michael Broetzmann was appointed Vice President and the senate approved the appointment unanimously. Congratulations VP Broetzmann!

Housing Fair! and Leg Affairs | 12.5.07

Tonight is the Housing Fair! Come to look for off campus housing, get advice on leases and landlords, browse our guide to off campus living, and eat some free food!
Last night President Lubke appointed Kyle Tonn as the new Legislative Affairs Director of the University Student Senate, and the senators approved the appointment.

Housing Fair December 5th | 11.5.07

Each year the University Student Senate of the Stout Student Association puts on a Housing Fair in which landlords come with information about their properties. Students come and talk with landlords and realtors in search of housing. There will be refreshments and an informational booth about landlord tenant relations and leases. The Housing Fair will be Dec. 5th in the Great Hall of the MSC from 5-8pm.

Open Senator Positions | 9.19.07

Senator elections for the 38th Congress are coming up, and applications are available at the SOC Desk in the lower MSC, the service desk in the upper MSC, or at our office. Anyone can apply to contest the 17 currently filled seats or to fill the five remaining seats. Packets are due October 3rd and elections will be October 10th. Don't forget to vote!
Climate Commitment Update | 9.12.07

Chancellor sorenson signed the ACUPCC on September 12, 2007 in the presence of University Student Senate Vice President Chad Johnson, Director of Creative Development Andrew Barrette, Vice Chancellor of ASLS Dianne Moen, and the newly hired Sustainability Coordinator Raina Clark. The story appeared in the Dunn County News, the Stout homepage newsfeed, and the
Stoutonia. This represents the first victory of the year for the University Student Senate of the Stout Student Association!
Climate Commitment | 9.10.07

Director of Creative Development, Andrew Barrette, attended the Chancellor's Advisory Council this morning to present the University Student Senate's "Resolution to Establish a Commitment toward Sustainable Development at UW Stout" (USS 37.21.01). The resolution urges the signing of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) and the creation of a committee to oversee sustainable development at Stout. The ACUPCC is a commitment to work toward climate neutrality (zero greenhouse gas emissions). The CAC concluded in favor of Chancellor Sorenson signing the ACUPCC.

Sustainable Development at Stout | 7.17.07

Director of Creative Development Andrew Barrette, and Vice President Chad Johnson held a meeting with Vice Chancellor of Administrative and Student Life Services Diane Moen regarding efforts at Stout to become a more sustainable campus. It was confirmed that a temporary, half-time "Sustainability Coordinator" position has been approved, and that a committee will almost certainly be formed in this upcoming year to research and reccomend steps to take toward sustainability and climate neutrality. Hopes are that Chancellor Sorensen will sign the Presidents' Climate Commitment as a first step toward these goals.

United Council General Assembly | 4.17.07

This Friday and Saturday the United Council General Assembly meeting will be held at UW Oshkosh. Stout is allowed 7 representatives to go and speak on behalf of our student body. At this time we have only 3. Anyone enrolled at UW Stout is eligible, and we encourage you to come. For more information contact ssapresident@uwstout.edu or call our office at 232-2100. Transportation and housing is paid, and this would be a great, fun learning experience. We will be departing at 1:00 Friday and returning Saturday evening.
